I visit a lot of blogs, and I subscribe to a lot of blogs, but one things stops me from subscribing; blogs with no email sign up. Sure, RSS feed is the future, but with several of the feed readers disappearing, maybe not so much. I know I’m not alone when I say I prefer blog notices to show up in my email, and for those of us who do Blogger has FINALLY made it easy for bloggers to add the option:

Of course, if you have wordpress the subscribe by email has been in the widgets section for a long time.

I have left many newbies same note – no notify new posts box at bottom or follow in widgets. I am not going to check follow up comments box as I don’t needed more flooded in box.
An email subscribe option is definitely on the “must list” for any blog. I used to follow blogs by RSS, but that feed quickly became overloaded and I eventually stopped using it. Emailed updates work sooooo much better.
I agree and find it frustrating when I can’t find the subscribe function. RSS feed doesn’t work for me. Email update are sooooooo much better!
I have a friend who refuses to have the email subscription in her widgets. She insists that RSS is much better. But I constantly forget to check her blog because of this. I’m so busy, I need to have an email notice or else I won’t think to check her posts. I can see doing both for those who love RSS, but why limit yourself to only an RSS when you don’t have to?

Yep, I can’t imagine why a blogger wouldn’t have the email option if it’s available. I don’t use blogger, so maybe blogger didn’t have it available for a while and those folks had to use mail chimp or something?
I agree with you. Subscribing by email is a great way to go. I’m on WordPress so it was automatic. There’s been some blogs that I wanted to follow but didn’t have Google+ or it was just too hard to figure out where the option was. I think subscribing should be as easy as possible and shouldn’t feel like a challenge.
